Recently, I was able to sit down with CMIO Dr. William Sewell, and VP and CIO Jesse Diaz, from Phoebe Putney Health System (Albany, GA), a not for profit healthcare network in southwest Georgia. In 2020, Albany became a COVID-19 hotspot, and Phoebe was at the center of the crisis. One year later, they joined us to reflect on the pandemic, and look ahead to their current vaccine efforts.
Fortunately, the site had already been practicing for natural disasters, such as hurricanes and tornadoes. When COVID-19 hit, they activated that same incident command center and started the planning process, as the organization’s leadership began meeting around the clock.
With innovative ideas, and a dedicated team, Phoebe was able to quickly pivot their plans to address the unique challenges of the pandemic.
