See you at HIMSS26: What’s ahead for MEDITECH

As 2026 begins, my colleagues and I at MEDITECH are gearing up for one of the most anticipated events of our year — HIMSS26. With the conference just a couple of months away, I’ve been reflecting on what we’ve accomplished alongside our customers over the past year and what we’re building toward in the year ahead — including our latest AI use solutions. One thing is clear: collaboration with our customers remains the foundation of everything we do. Every health system is unique, shaped by its own strengths, challenges, and communities. That’s why the intelligent use of data to elevate care continues to guide our work.

An interoperable EHR like Expanse unlocks meaningful insight into healthcare organizations and the populations they serve. By gathering information from across the care continuum and applying AI in practical, responsible ways, we’re helping our customers chart their own paths to success. No matter the size or setting — rural or urban — patients and clinicians deserve access to innovation without financial or geographic barriers standing in the way.

With this in mind, there are several topics I look forward to exploring with attendees this year, both inside and outside of booth #5031:

Reducing clinician burnout with AI
Elevating care starts with supporting clinicians. At HIMSS26, we’ll showcase AI-powered tools within Expanse that streamline workflows, reduce cognitive burden, and keep clinicians firmly in control of decision-making. We’re making strides in ambient intelligence for physicians and nurses, and are advancing clinical engagement via “Ask Expanse,” a chatbot that enables clinicians to intuitively query the longitudinal record and surface precise, patient-specific insights in real time. I’m also looking forward to a general education session led by Hamidreza Eslama from Fraser Health Authority, who will share how AI-driven predictive analytics are helping identify patients at high risk for mortality. In addition, Fraser CMIO Amyeen Hassanali, MD, will be showcasing his AI experiences in our booth, sharing how the organization saved seven minutes of documentation time per discharge.

Interoperability
Fast, accurate clinical decisions depend on the ability to search and act on data — wherever it lives. We’re proud to be presenting Thought Leadership sessions with our customers and other experts at the HIMSS26 Interop+Smart Experience Pavilion Stage, showcasing the impact of interoperable data exchange on the advancement of AI, equitable care delivery, and streamlining the revenue cycle with integrated payer platforms. We will also be showing a variety of interoperability scenarios with our partners at Pavilion Booth #12623, highlighting the impact for clinicians, patients, and healthcare organizations. Visitors will learn how clinicians benefit from rapid data aggregation and intelligent clinical decision support, how patients are empowered and engaged via seamless data exchange, and how organizations can realize ROI through smart interoperability.

Controlling costs while maintaining independence
In addition to interoperable data exchange, fiscal sustainability is often the key for Critical Access and community hospitals to remain independent. Leaders from several rural organizations, including Bothwell Regional Health Center, Bingham Healthcare, and St. Mary’s Healthcare, will share cost-efficient strategies for improving outcomes during general education sessions. In our booth, we’ll also demonstrate how MEDITECH’s cloud-native technologies, MEDITECH-as-a-Service (MaaS), and AI-powered claims denial agents help organizations realize the full value of an EHR — on a budget and timeline that works for them.

Patient empowerment
Stronger connections between healthcare organizations and their communities lead to better outcomes, greater loyalty, and more convenient care experiences. In our booth, you’ll see how flexible care and financial engagement options, as well as modern communication tools like Patient Connect and the MyHealth Assistant, help patients stay informed and connected to trusted local providers.

Present and future innovation
Adaptability, collaboration, and growth are at the heart of healthcare innovation. Visitors to our booth will learn more about MEDITECH Greenfield Workspace — an open, creative ecosystem where developers can test integrations with Expanse, execute APIs, and validate applications against a real MEDITECH EHR.

Special Guests at our Booth #5031

Several MEDITECH customers and clinicians will be joining us for Lunch & Learn sessions in our booth, as well as live demonstrations of our latest solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with experienced healthcare leaders, including:

  • Mark Snowise, MD, CMIO, Berkshire Health Systems
  • Eric Gasser, BS, RN, CHCIO, CIO, Wooster Community Hospital Health System
  • Amyeen Hassanali, MD, CMIO, Fraser Health
  • Holly Davis, MBA, BSA, RN, CNO, Bingham Memorial Hospital
  • Farhana Alarakhiya, CDIO, Aga Khan University

Finally, I hope all customers attending HIMSS26 will join me for some well-deserved downtime at our Customer Appreciation event on the evening of March 10. We’ll be gathering at Mercato Della Pescheria Las Vegas to enjoy great food, music, and conversation as we celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved together.
