As healthcare continues to evolve, so does the need for innovative technologies offering real-time access to integrated, interoperable health records. Built for the future of healthcare, MEDITECH Expanse is a powerful platform that enables organizations of all sizes to deliver quality and timely care for a variety of patient populations.

Every organization is different and has their own criteria to define what success means for them. But the importance of mobile, personalized solutions designed to improve efficiency for an overburdened workforce is universal across the industry.

Here are four recent stories of MEDITECH customers leveraging Expanse to achieve positive results, such as lowered costs and increased patient satisfaction.

1. Howard County Uses Expanse Revenue Cycle to Reduce Self-Pay Debt by 42% Through Community Engagement

Howard County Medical Center (St. Paul, NE) CFO Morgan Meyer saw a path to greater financial transparency and efficiency when implementing MEDITECH Expanse.

Utilizing a single EHR and Central Business Office across care settings, staff can now easily monitor each patient’s financial situation. Howard County’s management team is also able to analyze their financial health across settings using their new Financial Status Desktop, avoiding the risk of closing and carrying the burden of uncompensated care

  1. Frederick Health Aligns Workflows Across Care Settings With MEDITECH Professional Services

With help from MEDITECH Professional Services, Frederick Health’s (Frederick, MD) new CMIO led an initiative to improve their EHR workflow alignment across care settings, while standardizing and optimizing care overall through a centralized patient record. The process involved an update to the Expanse platform, as well as replacement of disparate IT systems in its ambulatory practices.

MEDITECH Professional Services provided the project management expertise needed for a successful rollout. The collaboration with Frederick Health yielded many benefits, including:

  • Elimination of information silos by implementing a single, integrated record
  • Personalized provider workflows through specialty-driven widgets
  • Increased provider efficiency and user satisfaction.
  1. Oswego Health Gains Financial Transparency and Increases Efficiency With MEDITECH Expanse

CFO Eric Campbell saw an opportunity to streamline Oswego Health’s (Oswego, NY) manual processes when his organization moved to MEDITECH Expanse.

Using MEDITECH’s Revenue Cycle solution to automate processes, his organization has become more transparent and efficient, helping the Financial Services department maintain a consistent performance over time. Oswego has kept their A/R days low, currently averaging between 30-35 days in the hospital.

  1. Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences Engages Outpatients With MEDITECH’s Customizable Questionnaires

As a leader in mental healthcare delivery, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Whitby, Ontario) is always looking for ways to engage clients in their own care. When the organization implemented MEDITECH’s Expanse Ambulatory solution in 2022, the steering committee saw an opportunity to improve engagement–by replacing paper forms in outpatient settings with online questionnaires embedded in the portal.

Now equipped with MEDITECH’s Customizable Questionnaires, 99% of the questionnaires are available online across eight clinics, for both in-person and virtual visits. Since the introduction of questionnaires, portal usage has increased significantly, which has had a positive impact on care delivery, and enrollment continues to rise.
