2021-MEDITECH-virtual-nurse-forum--email-2

It’s hard to believe that we are just one day away from MEDITECH’s 2021 Nurse Forum. I’m looking forward to coming together virtually with hundreds of members of our customer community who have registered to attend.

The focus of this year's event is the personal ways the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us, and how our individual experiences are helping us come together as a stronger nurse community.

For our three days together, we will build upon the growing list of topics that are urgent to so many of you. From mobility and genomics to health quality and equity, we are excited to pause (however briefly) and reflect on where we are as a body of professionals. Here are some featured keynotes and sessions that we can’t wait to share and experience with you.

  1. Keynote: This Would Be Funny If It Wasn’t Happening To Me! How To Navigate the Future With Enthusiasm & Vigor

Jody Urquhart, Motivational Speaker and Best-Selling Author

The last year has been a wake-up call for the importance of collective resilience and a strong culture. Join us for a hilarious and provocative presentation that will show you how to feel good while caring for others. Learn to face uncertainty, get a grip on change, and buoyantly keep moving forward in uncertain times. Through humour, audience engagement, and analogy, we will discover how to reinvigorate ourselves, build renewed purpose in our work, and stay resilient.

  1. Expanse Patient Care: The Best Care Humanly Possible

Moderator:

Emily Pacheco-Valente, RN, Product Manager, Strategy, MEDITECH

Panelists:

Joe Farr, RN, BSN, Clinical Applications Coordinator, King's Daughters Medical Center

Sara Lewis, BSN, RN, Nursing Informatics Specialist, Major Health Partners

Jessica Troxclair, BSN, RN, Nurse Clinical Informatics Specialist, Lane Regional Medical Center

Studies conducted on physician burnout outnumber those on nurse burnout 4-to-1. However, nurses make up about 75% of end users, and nearly half of those nurses experience burnout. Enhancing and optimizing the EHR interface can reduce cognitive load and decrease the symptoms of burnout. Joe Farr, Sara Lewis, and Jessica Troxclair come together for a conversation about the implementation of Expanse Patient Care and the valuable return on investment the solution has to offer your nurses.

  1. Keynote: Learning from the Pandemic

Jennifer Zelmer, PhD, President and CEO, Healthcare Excellence Canada

Dr. Jennifer Zelmer will explore the universal patient safety and quality issues highlighted by the pandemic, as well as opportunities for improvement. Healthcare Excellence Canada is a new organization which brings the Canadian Patient Safety Institute and Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement together, with a laser focus on improving healthcare.

  1. Keynote: Delivering on the Promise of a Healing Health System

Jane Englebright, PhD, RN, CENP, FAAN, Chief Nurse Executive and Senior Vice President, HCA Healthcare
