We entered the Canadian HIT market when many hospitals were starting out with only an electronic laboratory application. Today, we remain dedicated to advancing digital solutions across the entire care continuum, as healthcare organizations throughout Canada leverage MEDITECH Expanse as a foundation for initiatives that are measurably improving care.

- Fraser Health: As an early user of MEDITECH's AI-powered Hospital Course Summary, Fraser Health clinicians saved an average of 7 minutes per patient in discharge time. This solution streamlines documentation by automatically compiling key patient information into a clinician-editable summary. Additionally, the organization was recently named a Runner-Up for the 2025 Gartner Eye on Innovation Award for their scalable, AI-enabled decision support platform. Also notable, the emergency department at Surrey Memorial Hospital, part of Fraser Health, holds the official designation as Canada's second-largest. Furthermore, it ranks as the busiest emergency department in the country and the third busiest across all of North America.
- Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences: Demonstrating the transformative power of digital health, Ontario Shores recently earned its second HIMSS Davies Award, recognizing their success in using technology to advance healthcare delivery and improve patient outcomes.
- Schroeder Ambulatory Centre: As one of the first Canadian organizations to implement MEDITECH as a Service (MaaS), Schroeder is leveraging this fully managed, subscription-based version of Expanse to achieve seamless integration with regional healthcare partners, ensuring high-quality, connected care.
- Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care: Waypoint successfully pioneered an AI-powered early warning system that leverages integrated patient data from Expanse to predict mental health deterioration.
Advancing interoperability throughout the country
MEDITECH is proud to be a leader in advancing interoperability in Canada. Since launching Traverse Exchange Canada in 2024, we have actively advocated for a unified approach to interoperability standards.
Today, we are enabling bi-directional data exchange with Epic, Oracle Health, and PointClickCare across more than 100 Canadian healthcare organizations. Creating a more coordinated and holistic approach to care starts by enabling data to flow into clinical workflows at the point of care — no matter where that care is being delivered. Using one-to-many rather than one-to-one data sharing ensures providers have the pertinent information they need, alleviating the burden of retrieving vast amounts of fragmented patient data from different systems. We continue to enhance Traverse Exchange Canada, including the recent introduction of a consolidated patient summary that provides a streamlined, searchable view of patient data, embedded directly into the EHR workflow.
Partnerships driving progress
Our commitment to Canadian healthcare goes beyond technology. We are actively involved in government and industry initiatives at all levels, collaborating with organizations like the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and TECHNATION to support digital transformation and long-term sustainability.
We are also deeply grateful for the invaluable feedback and leadership from our customers, which has been instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of Expanse. Through programs like the Canadian Physician Advisory Committee (CPAC), the Ontario MEDITECH Collaborative, along with MUSE Community Peer Groups in Ontario and in British Columbia and Yukon, we continue to promote standardized EHR implementations and foster innovation across the country.
