MEDITECH staff and leaders at HIMSS25

The past year has been full of exciting achievements for MEDITECH, and we were eager to hit the HIMSS25 floor last week and highlight how Expanse’s intelligent platform continues to strengthen with cutting-edge technology, such as the Traverse Exchange network, AI-powered solutions, productivity-boosting tools, and much more. Building momentum for a future that embraces the power of data without leaving clinicians and patients behind, MEDITECH reinforced our position as an industry leader and pioneer.

A vision of the future

MEDITECH’s HIMSS booth served as a hub of innovation on the expo floor, offering an interactive vision of what’s possible in health IT. Kiosks featured bite-sized demo videos of MEDITECH solutions for visitors to peruse at their leisure. Throughout the day, MEDITECH demonstrators showcased Expanse solutions in action to crowds buzzing with a desire to learn more. With a wealth of successes to share, members of MEDITECH’s leadership team were excited to connect with peers and share more about MEDITECH’s groundbreaking work.

MEDITECH takes the stage

As a leader in interoperability, MEDITECH contributed invaluable insights to the Interop + Smart Experience, a dynamic area that provided a platform for attendees to learn and collaborate on how health IT innovations can support a secure, connected healthcare ecosystem.

Commanding their time at the Interop + Smart Experience demonstration booth, the MEDITECH team illustrated the power of Expanse, the intelligent platform, through connected care patient walkthrough demonstrations. The vignettes encompassed a complex patient journey over three major medical events, exemplifying how Expanse simplifies data exchange across multiple specialties for improved patient and clinician satisfaction. As the patient moved from prenatal to labor and delivery to oncology, Expanse followed the full continuum of care and showcased the difference of a truly intelligent and interoperable platform.

MEDITECH leaders also joined multiple Smart Experience Theater sessions as a part of the Interop + Smart Experience.

Transforming Healthcare Through Ambient Listening and Generative AI: From Clinical Documentation to Comprehensive Care Intelligence included panelists from MEDITECH, Microsoft, and SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC).

Navigating the Subtleties of Generative AI in Healthcare: Deployment, Trust, and Responsible Innovation included panelists from MEDITECH, Google, and Frederick Health.

Partnering with global leaders

Taking inspiration from HIMSS’s mission, the MEDITECH team was especially eager to host Lunch & Learn sessions in our booth. They offered an opportunity to hear from global industry leaders employing MEDITECH’s intelligent platform to advance their organizations while remaining independent. The session topics ranged from perfecting patient care to next-level interoperability and how the right digital tools can transform both provider and nurse satisfaction.

Patient-Driven Healthcare: How EHR Technology is Fueling the Precision Medicine Revolution with Frederick Health and Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences

From Data to Decisions: Advancing Healthcare with Smart Analytics and Intelligent Interoperability with Valley Health System and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital

Beyond the Bedside: Intelligent Tools for Today’s Nurses with Emanate Health and Phoebe Putney Health System

MEDITECH partners hosted exclusive discussions at their booth locations and invited MEDITECH leaders to join. Mike Cordeiro, Senior Director of Interoperability Market and Product Strategy at MEDITECH, joined ELLKAY, a MEDITECH Alliance partner, for an enlightening discussion on revolutionizing data exchange and organizational efficiency.

On the main HIMSS stage, Rebecca Lancaster, Director of Product Management at MEDITECH, joined MEDITECH Alliance partner, Suki, and Zoom on how organizations can best leverage AI technology to drive impact and value for their users.

Celebrating MEDITECH customer success

MEDITECH customers delivered an abundance of knowledge to the HIMSS General Education sessions, sharing their own successful strategies when facing industry challenges.

  • Innovative Smart Hospital Design: Harmonizing Patient Care and Operational Excellence with Valley Health System
The new Valley Hospital features some of the industry’s most advanced technology with the aim of redesigning care delivery. Attendees gained practical advice, real-world examples, and specific recommendations to apply to the evaluation, planning, and design of a smart hospital project or digital transformation initiative.
  • Expanding Use Cases for Genomics: A Precision Medicine Update with Frederick Health
Two years ago at HIMSS, this organization discussed how they launched an advanced precision medicine program, making it one of the first to allow any physician to order, result, store, and display discrete patient genetic data inside their patient records. This session shared details of their successes and lessons learned since launch.
  • Building Healthier Communities: Strategies for Prioritizing Equitable, Culturally Competent Care with Humboldt Park Health
Addressing healthcare disparities and recognizing the influence of social determinants of health are paramount in fostering a truly equitable healthcare system. The presentation emphasized the importance of not only capturing relevant data, but also using that data effectively to make a direct impact on patients’ quality of life and health.
  • Defragmenting Your Analytics Model Through a Centralized Governance Approach with Willis-Knighton Health System
When done right, data analytics can play a significant role in organizational decision-making, from identifying new service lines to targeting areas for quality improvement. This presentation highlighted one multi-facility healthcare system's mission to reign in a fragmented analytics strategy to create a more structured and transparent one.
